Lanie + Sam | A Summer Evening at the Columbus Metropolitan Library

There’s something about summer nights in Columbus that slows everything down. The light softens, the air feels a little heavier, and even the city seems to take a breath. Lanie and Sam’s engagement session at the Columbus Metropolitan Library felt exactly like that unhurried, intentional, and quietly romantic.

We started inside the library, tucked among marble staircases and patterned floors that feel timeless in a way only historic spaces can. From above, the architecture framed them effortlessly lines, curves, and symmetry surrounding a moment that didn’t need direction. Lanie and Sam settled into each other naturally, the kind of closeness that doesn’t perform for the camera. It just exists.

As the evening light shifted, we moved outdoors, letting the library’s stone exterior and manicured greenery guide the next chapter of their session. Lanie wore a sleek, one-shoulder black dress that felt editorial yet understated, pairing perfectly with Sam’s classic white shirt and black trousers. Together, they felt modern and grounded elegant without trying too hard.

One of my favorite parts of this session was how comfortable they were in the quiet moments. Walking hand in hand beneath the trees, pausing on a bench, exchanging glances that said more than posed smiles ever could. The Columbus Metropolitan Library grounds gave us both structure and softness strong architectural lines balanced by lush summer greens.

As the sun dipped lower, we leaned into contrast. Some moments were captured in black and white, emphasizing texture, emotion, and form. Others held onto the warmth of the evening sunlight filtering through leaves, shadows stretching across the sidewalk, the city humming just beyond the frame.

Lanie and Sam’s session felt less like a photoshoot and more like a story unfolding in real time. A reflection of who they are together: calm, connected, and deeply at ease. If this summer night in Columbus is any indication, their next chapter is going to be just as intentional.

BEHIND THE LENS

ABOUT the pullins

Specializing in telling your love story. We believe your love is a beautiful story deserving of being told, but there's a reason why... and it's personal

Ken + Karina Pullin. That's us. We eloped in 2020 in the middle of a worldwide pandemic. That meant an empty courthouse, no dress, no photographer, and no story told. That's the reason we are so passionate about what we do. It's a feeling opposite of what anyone should feel. That feeling is what makes us passionate about making sure your love story is told and preserved forever.
