There are some locations in Columbus that never stop feeling iconic, and the Ohio Statehouse is absolutely one of them. Pillar and Lukas chose the Statehouse for their engagement session, and it fit them beautifully. Classic, intentional, and timeless with just the right amount of edge.

From the moment we stepped inside, the Statehouse gave us everything a photographer could hope for. The black and white marble floors, the deep red velvet seating, the historic portraits lining the walls, and the soft window light pouring through the tall panes all created a setting that felt refined without being stiff. It’s one of those spaces that elevates even the quiet moments.

Pillar wore a clean, one shoulder white dress that moved effortlessly against the historic textures of the building. Lukas kept things classic in a black suit, which paired perfectly with the architecture. Together, they felt modern yet timeless, which is exactly why the Ohio Statehouse works so well for couples who want something elevated but not trendy.

One of my favorite things about photographing engagement sessions at the Ohio Statehouse in Columbus is the variety. In just one session, we moved from intimate seating areas to grand staircases, quiet corners, and wide architectural views. The space allows couples to be themselves while still giving that editorial, almost film like quality that feels straight out of a magazine.

Pillar and Lukas were natural together. Nothing forced, nothing overly posed. Just calm confidence and a steady connection that translated so clearly on camera. Whether they were sitting close on the velvet couch or walking hand in hand down the marble stairs, the session felt relaxed and genuine. Those are always the sessions that photograph best.

If you’re planning an engagement session in Columbus and love historic architecture, clean lines, and timeless spaces, the Ohio Statehouse is hard to beat. It’s especially perfect for couples who want something classic, elegant, and uniquely Columbus. As a Columbus wedding photographer, it’s one of my favorite locations to recommend for couples who want their photos to feel intentional and lasting.

Pillar and Lukas’ session is a perfect example of how simple styling, meaningful connection, and an iconic Columbus location can come together to create something really special.

If you’re looking for a Columbus engagement photographer and considering the Ohio Statehouse for your session, I’d love to help you plan something that feels true to you and stands the test of time.

BEHIND THE LENS

ABOUT the pullins

Specializing in telling your love story. We believe your love is a beautiful story deserving of being told, but there's a reason why... and it's personal

Ken + Karina Pullin. That's us. We eloped in 2020 in the middle of a worldwide pandemic. That meant an empty courthouse, no dress, no photographer, and no story told. That's the reason we are so passionate about what we do. It's a feeling opposite of what anyone should feel. That feeling is what makes us passionate about making sure your love story is told and preserved forever.
